Direct Accountability and Report:
Works under the supervision of the Director of Pupil Personnel Services who is responsible for the supervision and coordination of special education programs and policies.
An annual evaluation will be based on the job description, district and personal goals as well as objectives specific to the school or the position.
Qualifications:
Hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with an endorsement in Special Education Hold a current Virginia Provisional, Graduate, or Post Graduate Professional License or be eligible for one
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of successful full time teaching experience in a special education setting Successful supervisory experience in a special education setting is preferred Hold a valid Virginia Driver's License
Responsibilities:
Serve as a liaison between families and private day providers.
Collaborate to complete Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
Attend IEP meetings as needed.
Conduct student observations as needed.
Develop and assist with the implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
Coordinate related services, transportation, and other supports required to access FAPE.
Coordinate and conduct educational evaluations.
Complete Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) to support decision making, including level of care and service planning, participating in interagency meetings, and collaborating with outside service providers.
Coordinate with school administrators to assist with special education student achievement and compliance matters.
Be or be able to become MANDT certified.
Attend relevant professional development.
Assist in planning and implementing staff development regarding compliance issues.
Plans, trains, implements, and monitors a comprehensive system for auditing special education records to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
Provide systematic communication among special and general education personnel.
Maintain thorough documentation of concerns for special education students.
Collaborate with the School Testing Coordinators to schedule and ensure correct testing materials and accommodations are implemented for special education students.
Demonstrate highly effective oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrate openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback.
