Role and Responsibilities As an Academic Instructor with us, you will be teaching in a classroom environment to provide diverse students with adult basic education, English language development, special education, and basic subjects including reading, mathematics, and language arts.
This role will require you to:
Teach career planning, social adjustment, and general life skills courses.
Instruct conversational English, as well as local ideas and customs to students with limited English proficiency.
Maintain records including testing, daily inmate/detainee work, and attendance.
Evaluate and ensure inmate/detainee academic progress.
Provide individual tutoring.

Apply if you have:
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
One year of relevant teaching experience in the last 5 years.
Experience teaching adults and or youth and knowledge and experience of policy and procedure governing adult education is a must.
Must be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License by the Virginia Department of Education.
License in 'relevant educational field' is required.
If you do not currently hold a teachers/trade license from the Department of Education you must submit all documentation and be approved for a provisional license before starting employment.
Reciprocity may be possible provided the applicant holds a current valid teaching license from another state.
