Role and Responsibilities Your goal will be to create a learning environment that provides inmates/detainees the opportunity to maximize their learning potential and achieve or enhance an ability to perform vocational tasks.
This role will require you to:
Provide instruction to inmates/detainees for various labor and/or technical skills.
through classroom instruction, demonstration, and practical exercises.
Maintain records including testing, daily offender work, attendance and general record-keeping.
Assess educational needs of inmates, develop lessons plans to address those needs to include individualized assignments and training.
Administer, score, and interpret examinations and proficiency indicators.
Counsel your students concerning their performance, behavior, and personal problems.

Apply if you have:
High school diploma or GED and one-year full-time experience in the last five years OR possess a four-year degree in the relevant teaching area for a collegiate teaching certificate.
Must hold or be eligible for Industrial Teachers Certificate or a Collegiate certificate in the relevant trade area.
Applicants who do not hold a valid teaching license/trade license from the Virginia Department of Education must submit all documentation and be approved for a provisional license before starting employment.
Physical Requirements Frequently:
lift or carry up to 10 lbs.

Occasionally:
